Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Clinic at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC)

Comprehensive primary care for adults and children (over age 10) by providers and staff with expertise and training in the needs of LGBTQ patients. Providers and staff can also provide connections to other resources in the area.

Queer Health Advocacy

Queer Health Advocates are trained volunteers who accompany and advocate for members of the community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, aromantic, queer, or questioning during medical appointments. Queer Health Advocates assist their clients in navigating the healthcare system and promoting feelings of safety in order to receive the care they deserve. 

Emma Goldman Clinic

Mpowerment Iowa City

Community-based, peer-run HIV prevention program for men who have sex with men; it includes small-group safer sex workshops, community events, and outreach efforts led by an innovative group of young men from within the community.

A coalition that discusses and works toward improving issues related to the health and well-being of LGBT Iowans.

Project HIM: Healthy Iowa Men

Central Iowa’s sexual health resource for free and confidential HIV and STD testing, prevention education, and referrals. Project HIM welcomes all men who have sex with men (gay, straight, bisexual, curious, closeted, out, or HIV-positive) who seek support for healthy sexual behavior and want to learn about decreasing HIV/STD infection or re-infection risk.
