University Counseling Services (USC)

University of Iowa Student Health and the University Counseling Service provide medical and mental health services for transgender, gender non-conforming, gender non-binary, and gender queer students seeking assistance/support as a part of transitioning or who desire trans inclusive care for their overall physical and mental health. Visit the Trans Inclusive Services page for more information.

The LGBTQ Counseling Clinic is staffed by couple and family therapy and counseling psychology doctoral students. Each student completes training on providing services to LGBTQ individuals, including conducting assessments, writing letters of support, and providing ongoing individual, couple, and family therapy. Each student is supervised by a licensed marriage and family therapist, and all letters of support are approved by the clinical director. All services are free of charge.

Trans*Verse Support Group

Trans*Verse is a support group serving the Iowa City (and greater) area. This group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. We wish to hold a space where all ages of trans* people, their significant others, friends, family, and allies (SOFFA) can build a stronger community.
